Commentary

by G. Neil Armstrong

Deuteronomy 19

My brother does bear false witness of me this day. Where are the priests and judges that I must plead my case? Where is the justice that is spoken of here, as a command of God that we put away this wickedness from among us? To whom do I plead my case?

I encourage myself in the Lord, to sing a praise to him in my sadness. Only a wickedness that runs deep in the heart of man could be responsible for the discord sown among us by this false witness. How shall we deal our hand, oh Lord? What would You have us to do that we might do away with the evil, to restore peace and harmony in the camp?

I seek Your face, because mine is buried in my hands, lest I strick with them an added wickedness not easily forgotten. Remove far from me the emotion that would eat my heart like a canker sore, but place in me a heart that You would have of me.

Remind me in Your way what I shall do. Let it add to You glory and honor. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
