Commentary

by G. Neil Armstrong

Lord, I ask that you open the eyes of my heart so that I may see more ways that Your Word can be applied to  my life. I know that Your plan is that we have life more abundant. I know that everything in my life will be accomplished. I need only remember that there are an untold many ways to go about every challenge and resistance. The power of God in me, inherant of Jesus' death, born into me upon my being born again, I can now overcome all things that effort to destroy the living Word in me.

The only thing that can come against the Word in me, is my own free will. The enemy makes effort to trick me. I am expected to become discouraged and "curse" God in my longing. This thing ought not be so. I surrender my own free will to the will of God. I open my mind, my heart, my will and my emotions to be receptive of the Word I receive aloud, silently and Spiritually, during this Face Time. The enemy cannot draw near me now, for I am dwelling in the secret place of the Most High, in the shadow of the Almighty. You are He in me, Jesus. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.

At verse 18 I had paused to say, I see a picture drawn here that looks similar to a courtroom. The trial is to determine if I qualify for the calling. I stand as the member in question as the forces argue the case. Both are pleading for my soul. All the detail that goes into a trial, both sides gathering evidence to strengthen their point. Jesus represents me as the enemy tries to claim rights to my soul. "You don't have the strength to do that", said the enemy. "Your experience has always proven futile", he further pleads.

A voice, calm and seemingly NOT caught up in the moment, came from a man. The man was more a light shaded silhouette off to the side a bit. The courtroom falls silent as this man, Jesus does speak "touch not mine anointed and do my prophet no harm. For it is not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit... I do say".

Jesus continues to say, "all power of heaven and earth do I give you, to do even greater things than me". Suddenly the courtroom burst into low rumbling of whispers as the Judge announces the verdict, "as it is written, those who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved".

All of a sudden I understood the whole thing. I can't complete a perfect work in me until I accept Jesus and the power that comes along with it. Next, I must know that it's not by my strength, but rather the power of God in me, as I am able to overcome all things. This is for my self preservation, and also to bring life to the lost. Something this valuable can only be kept by continually giving it away. I was never designed to contain, but only to flow.

The final word spoken, "Jesus I submit to You. I am at Your mercy, oh God." At that very moment, the veil was lifted and light filled the darkness. Court adjourned.
