Commentary
Lord I honor Your name now, and hope to do so in my walk today. l will keep my mind focused on You, even if there is a time when I don't quite what to do next. I intend to keep my heart as clean as it can be. I ask that You create in me and sustain in me a clean heart oh, God and to renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from thy presence, take not thy Holy Spirit from me, and restore to me the joy of thy salvation, oh Lord. Renew a right spirit within me. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
Ahh, the goodness of Jesus! There is hope for us now! Never doubt if you are in the grace and mercy and will of God. Never believe in your heart that you are not of worth. Here in verse 8 it is made specifically clear that we are "God Breathers" that we can breathe life into people because of the Word that speaketh from OUR mouth... as the Word is nigh us, in us, emitting from our very mouth! It need not be any more clear than this, as of now... RIGHT now, we are human God Breathers. John 1:1 says that in the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God and the Word was God. That exact same Word is nigh us, even in our mouth... that Word is Jesus and Jesus is God. We breathe God into those with ears to hear.
Verse 12 makes clear that no specific church or strategy of worship and service to God is deemed the ONLY correct, ideal, or in some way mandated. It is clear in this verse that there is NO difference between one way or the other in service and worship between us and God. This verse declares that the same Lord is rich unto ALL who call upon Him! Do you know what that means? It means that EVERYone qualifies for salvation AND Kingdom Power! All we have to do is call upon Him... that is all. Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth... the "secret" to our success.
"How will they know unless we tell them? How can they believe something they have never heard? Lord, I want to go so that they can know 'those who call upon the Lord will be saved' (excerpt from song by Truth), for verse 14, 15.
As it seems is common even today, the voice of God was not heard by even His very own people. Those who did not seek God found Him. Those who were not listening did hear. Those of His own, they heard Him not. I do believe there is at least one way to relate to what is being said here in the last couple of verses. When we were at a certain age range of say, 8-12, and that range varies considerably, we would hear our mothers (or fathers) voice of instruction so much, so often, so demanding with authority. There were times when her voice would be calm, smooth, and alluring to heed to. The point is, for the most part we were only listening to what we wanted to listen to. The times when the beckoning seems appealing to us... and sadly, most times it seems most appealing when it directly treats our flesh.
There are countless people who have this mind-set most or all of their lives. This is one of the things that we "renew" in accordance with Romans 12:2, by washing our minds in the Word. Even in reference to Philippians 4, to think on these... This will certainly keep our ear attentive to the voice of God, whether it be a bold, booming requirement, or a calm and assuring encouragement to move forward, God will do what He will in our favor, for our benefit... we need only heed His voice, and speak about Him with our voice.
