2 Kings 5

Not Of Man, But Of God

What do you seek? From whom do you seek it? We are human, and with our strength we are very little. God, in us, is all that we can ever hope to be or accomplish. The Lord gives us the ability to cause healing... but only to an extent. God will not share His glory with anyone, or anything. The king of Israel cannot heal us. Elisha can't even heal us. We can be healed, but only by God's hand. Nothing is too great for the power of God. Silver, gold, or all the "riches" on earth cannot purchase a touch of the hand of God, to be healed, or to be blessed in any manner. God desires our heart. This is the only thing we can offer Him that He will require of us.

This healing was not earned by any gift or payment. Notice that Naaman was instructed to dip 7 times in the dirty waters of the river Jordan. This was a matter of humility. There were cleaner waters about, and probably even closer to the place that they were. The focus was not even about the  leprosy or the healing of it. The focus was about God's glory being made known and real. The purpose was to humble Naaman to the power of God. The reality of God. This was accomplished.

What do we really seek? Elisha's servant sought payment, no matter how little. God don't want these things. God wants our heart. He wants us to be willing to love Him, even if we don't yet know how. It's not what we have that God desires. God desires what we don't have. He wants to make us complete and He wants us to always remember that it is He who provides it. He wants to make us whole, in every facet of life. This is His desire for us, and from us.

Does anyone want to be healed? Is there anyone who truly wants what God offers? Will you use the healing to honor God more fully? Will you willingly let go of the "benefits" of the handicap? Yes, there are "benefits" that must be sacrificed. No more supplemental income. No more "service" from other people. No more medication. No more murmuring about the ailment. Most importantly, we must tell other people what God has done for us. We can do this even before we are healed of the ailment. Focus on what God has already done for us. Tell people about it. This will draw attention. The attentive people will see God's hand in your healing. They will know that He is real, and that no other god is real. They will seek Him for their blessing.

It's not of man that we can hope to find our blessing. We can't buy it. We can't sell it. It's not of man, but of God.
