2 Kings 6

     They That Be With Us

God said that He would give angels charge over us, to keep us (Psalm 91:11). How do we come to a place in our relationship with God, that He would keep us safe by means such as this? That angels will guard our ways? It's not a difficult thing to achieve. All we have to do is... NOTHING! Do you believe that there is more going on than that which can be perceived by the five basic senses of sight, smell, taste, feeling and hearing? Have you ever wondered why it seems God operates beyond our senses, so that we cannot perceive Him as readily with our "natural" mind as Elisha seems to?

God's help don't come because we deserve it. There is certainly no "deserve" factor involved. We should simply believe be grateful. I know, to a person who don't quite "buy into this sort of thing" it would seem unreasonable to expect him to believe. There are many dangers that we don't readily perceive with our senses, as well. The moody secretary, the jolly panhandler, the preacher... they are all governed by an "unseen force". This means that we are all subject to that which we don't see. Our moods, our well being, it's all influenced by the spiritual warfare that occurs around us all the time.

It's worth mentioning here that the man who burrowed the axe didn't just have an attitude that the axe is broken or lost and there is nothing he can do about it. Instead, he told Elisha about it, and that it was borrowed. Nothing is too great or too small for God. By the power of God, Elisha made the axe head to float. It was salvageable. It was not replaced with a new one, nor was it counted as a loss. It was redeemed. A simple matter, really. What about the army of angels that were camped around them? Was that a simple matter? Elisha needed only ask that the Lord would "open our eyes to see". Elisha didn't ask that the host of angels come, or that they stand in unity for our safety. Such was already given, and in place. We needed only to see it now, both for our confidence and for the fear of the enemy.

God will give us a "glimpse" of how things are for us, from time to time. Will we accept this as truth, or will we simply dismiss it as an "imagination" that holds no redeeming power? It will determine the outcome of your situation. Be encouraged in the fact that "they that be with us are greater than they that be with them."
