1 Kings 21

What's NOT Mine Is NOT Mine

Turn off those thoughts of possessing that which is not yours! Encourage yourself in what the Lord DID provide. Be contented in His provision. He will prosper you beyond what could be stolen from another. He will set you on high, if that is where He wants you to be! Don't take by force anything at all. Be an example for God or He will make an example of you.

Sometimes I see young children behave as Ahab had. He may as well have taken the vineyard, even without asking first. When Naboth did not accept Ahab's offer, it should have been settled. In fact, Ahab should not have desired Naboth's vineyard in the first place. Ahab had one already. Apparently, he even had a better one... but he wanted Natoth's vineyard instead. This is where the sin began.

If you like something that already belongs to somebody else, turn your eyes away. Take your heart off of that thing. It is not yours. Do not covet. This sort of thing will only destroy you completely. Even if you see something that you like, and it don't officially belong to somebody else, if you seek to own it and the cost is greater than the benefit... leave it alone completely. Don't even give it another thought. It is not yours.

If you find yourself in a situation similar to this one, while you are having your tantrum on your bed, give this thing to God. Seek His forgiveness, even in the middle of the struggle. He will forgive you. He will help your heart. He will help your sight, to seek no more that which does not belong to you. Instead, maybe you can appreciate and hold in value that which you already do have. Take good care of these things He has already given you. It is always more than enough.
