jDeuteronomy 30
From the very beginning, to the very first time that God did deliver people from bondage, it was always necessary to teach, or re-teach them the way of God. This is necessary for the people to understand the relationship that God requires of the people He has chosen to bless. The interesting thing, and the thing that gives us hope for our time is that all of the covenant rights and privileges apply to you and I, as a stranger in a foreign land, except when we seek the guidance of God and desire to be one of His chosen people, we will not be treated as strangers in a foreign land. We will be treated as a direct blood-line member of the Holy Nation of God with complete benefits and requirements for Godly living. In this manner, God will show the world that His mercy can extend to all who seek Him. His boundless blessing is available to all who will turn their hearts to God and to follow His way.
There is a time in every man's walk when he experiences loneliness and wonders if there is anyone, anywhere who can relate with his common interest in serving God. Is there anyone who sees as he does? How far is the dark distance from one fellow believer to the next? I have felt this way and I am sure that you have, too. If you have not, you will someday feel alone. Be encouraged during this time, because the Lord has not left you alone altogether. He has blessed you even before you asked. Soon, all will be well again. This time of solitude can be spent well by drawing closer to God, instead of sulking in solitude. Rejoice, because God loves the one-on-oneness as you seek to draw near to Him.
There is not a whole lot to say about this chapter that could add to what we have explored in recent past chapters. Most of this is for a fresh reminder to the People, just before going in to possess the Promise Land. We do have a promise land of our own to look forward to. We can make it, even if we do need a 40 year wilderness journey first. We will endure hardship as a part of our Holiness Training, but we can be assured in advance that God will not forsake us. Take heed that we do not forsake Him. When we unplug ourselves from the worldly way, and engraft ourselves to Gods way, we will need Him for everything. To forsake Him now would be to forsake ourselves and die!
On a good note, obedience in His will promises unimagined Divinity and all of the awesome experiences that are included with the Holiness package. Be encouraged to know that each time the People turned their hearts back toward God, He compassionately withdrew the wages of their sin, as if they had not sinned in the first place. This don't mean that the People were without fault, it means only that their heart is back in the right place. Perfection was never achieved as a body; only individually, and then very rarely. What I mean is, no body of believers, as a whole has ever achieved perfection, or has come to the description of perfection... not even close. Job did, and so did precious few others, but never a collective body of believers.
So, be encouraged that not even this is new, and that God has provided rescue for you, in whatever condition you are in. Simply offer Him a willing heart. See for yourself what He will offer you!
