Commentary
It is not always the case that God will tell us why, or why not. We are most often required to do something altogether different than what we would consider the obvious way. God will tell us the way to the goal. The goal will undoubtedly be chosen by God, as well. We will ask God for something and He will provide what is best for us, and He will bring it to our possession, or He will bring us to it, in His way. There will be sound reasons behind what God will have us to do, even when there are times that we will not understand why things are so different than we would have done. This is because the result will be so much different than we would have done. God knows more about what is best for us than we do. God knows how best to bring glory to His name, while bringing us to a more abundant life.
It’s not easy, and it’s completely against our nature for us to follow God’s exact instructions that will lead us to our goal. It is even more difficult to will ourselves to follow completely the will of God if somewhere in our heart we don’t fully believe in God. I know that we have already seen and experienced many mighty works by God, but it’s still not natural for us to believe that He exists. As irrational as it may sometimes be, we would rather explain away God’s work for some sort of natural phenomenon. To what end? What gain could we hope to receive by denying God? Surely we would know an even deeper and more certain side of God if we would practice obeying God at His first beckoning. Try that today. Try to do that which God tells you to do, immediately as He tells you to do it.
Maybe you are at a grocery store and God tells you that you should talk to a person about church. Maybe you are at a gas station and someone asks for a coin. Whatever God tells you to do, no matter how unorthodox, try simply doing it. Share your experiences with your friends and family. Tell us all about it. This is what God wants from us, to bring glory to His name. He would much rather us “brag” about His mighty hand, than for us to claim credentials for that which we are not capable of doing. He will not share His glory with anyone, and who could fault Him? Nobody helped Him. In fact, we are more likely to complicate things than we are to make anything better.
