Commentary

by G. Neil Armstrong

Oh God, how long I have been a partaker of things not convenient. Truly I am grateful that You have not turned me over to a reprobate mind. I will  Not Fear. God will forgive me. Even of a reprobate status, it is possible to unite once again with our Lord. Take a look at the book of Lamentations. Even though Lamentations reflects the condition of Jerusalem, I think it is possible for this exact thing to occur on an individual basis.

I think I have experienced a condition when God held a reprobate mind for me. I prayed and prayed for a breakthrough. I felt like I was talking to myself, and that I was all alone, truly for the first time ever before or after. I could not pray through the dark cloud that separated me from my Lord. I remember that a Christian brother prayed fervently on my behalf. I remember the extremely overwhelming sense of freedom and joy when the Lord acknowledged me and received me again in His grace and mercy.

It seems like when I am saturated by the outpouring of Gods abundance, when my cup overflows, after a while of blissful contentment, I become arrogant. Perhaps I begin to grow stoic, or take for granted the wonders of God. This thing ought not be so. Its easy to assume there will always be food to eat, air to breathe and water to drink. If we so easily forget the ultimate provider, it just might result in that, the Lord will forget to do the providing. Don't let this happen. Renew your appreciation every day, just as I am now. Set aside a time between you and the Lord, face to face.

Don't find out what its like to be completely desolate. Don't put yourself in a position that will cause God to separate you with a reprobate mind. Be encouraged. Jesus is our mediator He will bridge the gap. He will clean us up, and present us to the Father as Royalty. Reprobate is now much different than it used to be, but don't be deceived... it is still possible to stir the wrath of God. The big difference now is that Jesus will move with compassion and destroy the enmity between us and God.
