Elijah And Elisha - The Double Portion
The zeal of Elisha, that he would stay close to Elijah, no matter what the circumstance or distance, is the kind of zeal we should have for Jesus. The Lord sends people into each of our lives for us to take counsel from, to learn from, and to be close to. Some of us have several such people. It is important that we lean fully on God, and exercise what we learn. We can be encouraged by our leaders and mentors. We can learn from them. Many of us can even call on them in our time of need. Do not give them the place of Jesus, but of learn Jesus through them. Elijah was not God. He had the anointing of God. He carried out the will of God without fail. Even Elijah would not remain forever. Elisha understood this, and wanted to continue the work of the Lord, which Elijah had done. Even more so, Elisha wanted a double portion of God's spirit.
Seek for your double portion. It is not too much for God. He will give you all your heart desires. He won't hold any good thing from you. He will accomplish that which brings the most glory to His name. So, seek for your double portion... even triple portion. With God, all things are possible.
