Commentary

 2 Samuel 23

     There were many mighty men in David's day. There are many mighty men now, as well. The mighty men of valor that we have among us today may not stand out as they might have in the days of old because there are so many great marvels today that we scarcely even acknowledge our heroic men as they would nave been then. The laws are now different. The customs are different. Even news from the battle field is filtered before it reaches us. Be assured, there are still many mighty men of valor, fighting for us, to protect us from the enemy. If only we were in unity for the ultimate purpose, to bring great glory to our God!

     If only we could lift Him high above all of our circumstances and trust Him to empower us to fight for His sake, instead of our own, which will only lead to more war and destruction. Then He will make our name great for all the generations to follow. Then He will be honored and will honor us. Then He will be seen and known throughout all the world as the One True God. Many doubt, many believe that their god is the real god. We must lift Him higher. He will draw all men unto Himself. Remember, some seed while some water, but God gives the increase.
