 2 Samuel 7

This is a very special chapter for me. There is rest from the oppression of the wicked. No more war, at least for the time. I see clearly the appreciation and love that David has for God, in that he wants to build a tabernacle in honor of God. I want to do something honorable for God. I want to express my appreciation and my love for Him. I want to bless His children, my brethren because I am blessed. I am concerned that many do see me as the "shepherd boy, following after the sheep". I am concerned that many people still do not see who I am in the sight of God. Never mind that. I don't want to be exalted, anyway. I want to be abase, but without corruption. I want to grasp and maintain a life that will honor God enough that He will say unto me, "I will establish thy seed upon the earth forever. I will not take away my blessing as I have from Saul, but I will chasten thee and thy seed if thou do wickedness."

God honored David in this chapter. He even explained some things, which is not at all as God would usually do. When we follow God with a heart of obedience, we won't find many occasions where He will explain Himself to us. He expects us to trust and obey Him without question. The Lord's anger is kindled when we question Him, or when we murmur and complain. Nevertheless, He will deliver us. He will teach us a lesson about discontentment, too. We don't have to wander in the wilderness for 40 years, if we only obey and don't complain about every little thing. However, if we find that we are in that wandering stage of development, be encouraged because the Lord is still with us. He will do mighty things no matter what path we need to travel. If He chooses to begin a great thing in us, but that He will complete that thing through the hand of our children or grandchildren, so be it. He has done this before and will likely do it again. Be honored that he has appointed us to establish his work and not somebody else. Be honored that He does occasionally explain things to us, that we understand why this and why that. He don't have to explain it. He will be done, no matter what.
