Commentary

Genesis 1
There are many things in this first chapter of Genesis that can be expounded on. So much is packed into just a few verses. The words were chosen well to describe the beginning of all things that is.
It is necessary for me to comment on this chapter before I read any other commentary, or to study with any other resources. I want to put my thoughts here even before I see what others have learned as they have studied.
I remember Pastor Aaron mentioned that everything is made "after his kind". This means that an apple tree will not produce oranges, etc. I remember the History Channel aired a documentary that boasted what seems directly contradictory to what is said in this chapter of Genesis. The documentary claimed that all things evolved from single-cell organisms, having all came from only one thing.
It is necessary for us to see that these things did not evolve from one thing to another, but that they were created as they are, directly from the hand of God. I understand that scientists don't simply lie about their theories, or invent evidence that deliberately contradicts God's Word. It's just that scientists have only a glimpse of all that is.
I appreciate the concepts that come from the hard work of scientists, but let it be a reminder to us all that when we begin to understand more clearly a thing, don't rush off with that tiny morsel of information and begin to build theories about it.
I write journals about things that happen in my life, how I feel and what I think about these experiences so that I can reflect back on them later and see that all things are not always as they seem to me at the time. God's Word is living and should be appreciated as such. It grows in us and we grow in it. It is what gives life to our spirit. It is what gives emotion to our soul. It is what breathes life into our nostrils.
