Christian 12 Steps

 Step 12: Service

By G. Neil Armstrong

Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.

Gal 6:1-2

1            Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.

2          Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

(KJV)

God does not call the qualified so much as He qualifies the called (1 Corinthians 1:25-29).For many are called, but few are chosen (Matthew 22:1-14).

I hope to endure to the end. This don’t mean that all hope is lost if I am overtaken in a fault. This means that I will exercise one or more of the applicable steps and undergo restoration… Romans 6:12-14; 5:20; 2 Corinthians 12:9.

It is my earnest desire to share my experiences, strength, and hope with anyone that I am able. I can share with them how it was, what happened, and what it’s like now. In sharing this with others, it is much the same as sharing it with my own hope of enduring. I have shared as unto God (Matthew 25:31-45, esp. 40).

Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap (Galatians 6:7). It is clear then that we can only expect to remain in a state of restored sanity if we continue to help other people come to their place of restoration.

It is so rewarding to help a person who, try as they may, can’t seem to make it on their own. Sense a power greater than ourselves has overcome us; it will take an even Greater Power, the Almighty Power for us to overcome our deficiencies.

There is strength in numbers. As written in Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 we have a strength that is not easily weakened if we stick together. Then, as we learn to lean on and live in the trust of the Almighty God, nothing can overcome us again (Psalm 91).

As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after Thee, O God. –Psalm 42:1

Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and uphold me with Thy free spirit. –Psalm 51:10-12

This is my prayer, lifted to You, O God. Preserve me in Thy steadfast love. For You only are worthy of all the honor and the glory. Let me be for You a reflection of what You are for me. I pray in Jesus’ name - amen.
