Dear Heavenly Father:
I pray now in Jesus' name, asking You to forgive my sin. It's not enough for me to simply be forgiven, although there is freedom in forgiveness, and whoever You set free is free indeed. It is my desire that I improve in my walk, and not to simply approach You with a request of forgiveness. Forgiveness is not to be taken lightly, I know, but I need deliverance. I need a repentant heart. Does this have any reflection on my belief in You? What I mean to ask is, does it mean that I really don't believe all that I learn of You id I don't stop my sin and surrender to You completely? In my heart and with my mouth I confess that I DO fully believe in You. I do believe that You are not a "play, pretend, imaginary friend". I do believe that You are all that Your Word describes You to be. This is how I know that I need help.
I a place that provides very few opportunities for sinful indulgence, and that is full of ministry duties, this is a place that I do well at. In a Christian family environment or, admittedly, jail. I don't want to find my refuge with You only in the jail system. I want to serve You with my FREE will. I want to do this with my whole heart, not under some condition. This isn't free will, although even in jail I do still have a choice.
I know that You love me, LORD. I know this because if You didn't care, I go on unnoticed. If I love you freely and without condition, and You have not beckoned me to You, I believe that I would gain favor with You because of said devotion and love. This favor with you will result in Your love for me, and then You will want to see me get better. It's only natural to want only the best for a loved one. The truth is, You loved me even before I love You freely and with devotion. You love me so much that Your death applies to my sin as much as it does for anyone else. Without any hidden motives, You love us unconditionally.
I didn't forget that You ARE a just God. Forgiveness of sin does not come with a full pardon from the consequences. Forgiveness means that You still love me and that You still trust me, and that You still believe in me. The blood shed as an atonement for my sin was Yours, Jesus. It is a hard thing to love that unconditionally, but I accept. I want to try. I want to determine myself to devotion in the Solid Onward Walk. I love You, Lord and it's time now to live my life in honor of You. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
