The Contractor

Ask and ye shall receive. Seek and ye shall find. Knock and the door shall be open to you. It is in asking that ye receive. It is in seeking that ye find. It is in knocking, that the door be open to you.

I asked You, Lord for the tools, all of the tools that I need for being a Contractor. You see, I want to be a builder of Your kingdom, Lord. I want to work with the skills you have given me; the talents you have put in my heart and "DNAed" into my make-up.  Those were a given, from birth. Two things I lacked, ya three is an abomination. One, I didn't have a Work Order. Without a work order, I am not permitted to do any work.

I have come to understand that before I can get to work on something, I need to know how to do the job. First of all, there are an undetermined number of people in the world who can do this work just as good and maybe even better than me. My duty is to appeal to the need more desirably than the others. I want the client to like my plan and my attitude more than the others. After all, I know I can do the job, and do it well because I have a passion for my job, my skill, my "career". I care about what I do, and I do it very well. I sense that because I like my job so much, I tend to care a lot about what the client thinks of my work, and of me, as a person.

But, before we can even get a Work Oder, I need one more thing. All these tools the Lord has given me need to be put away in a neat, orderly fashion. I need to be organized so that I can be ready instantly, in season and out of season. I need to keep my blades sharp. I need to keep my tools well oiled. I need to be able to look the client in the eyes with passion, while reaching over to get one of my shiny, new 1 Corinthians 13. I can use this tool so well, and I know right where it is, because I keep it oiled, and stored in its proper place... hanging on the left wall of my heart. I keep it in reach, so I don't have to fumble around looking for it when someone needs love.

So, now I have my tools organized and well kept. I have a Work Order because God wants me to start out this week mowing lawns and doing a couple Pressure Wash jobs. You know, just to get some footprints going. People see me out there, and before you know it, they inquire of me that which they do not have, or have less of.

Here's the thing... most people do not know exactly what they want until I tell them. This will alter their original vision just a bit. You see, at first they thought all they needed was a good grass cutting. As it turns out, there is a fungus growing in the lawn. The grass is weedy because of a foreign parasite. It must be treated. Sure I will cut the grass... but if I don't treat that fungus, I ain't a very good lawn keeper. If I can't be trusted with this little thing, I can't ask God to let me do the Kingdom grounds. That's simply not the sort of quality God will have for His kingdom.

Okay, so I identified the problem and the client is pleased to be rid of the fungus, and looks forward to a nice, lush green lawn again. Everything seems so joyful and comforting. That fungus must have been there for years and years, because now that its gone, the grass ain't never been so green. But now the house needs cleaned. The grass looks so good, the house is more noticeable.

The client loved what I was able to do with the lawn. I had to take a few minutes to explain to the client how I came to do such work. First, I have a cell phone. I can call the Boss any time with any questions or concerns. He ain't never too busy. In fact, He can get a few of us on the line at the same time and coordinate us in such a way, that we compliment each others work. For example, God is working on my pressure washing skills, but this client need immediate results.. I mean it's gotta be done toDAY!. God will sometimes get the guy who's been on the job a while, to either assist me, or come do it for me, while I trim the edges of the lawn. In either case, communication is key.

So, this client sees his house improving and the inspiration from that is saturated with joy. I mean, this guy is ecstatic! But now that the house is clean and the grass is superb, you know.... because I did it (hehehe). Anyway, now we notice holes in the walls and roof. No wonder why he has structure damage in his basement and mold on his walls. Okay, now we are getting into some serious work. The client is getting a bit nervous now. How much is this gonna cost? It might take him a lifetime to pay it all off. I mean we are experts, after all.

There is good news! For today only, and because you were referred by a friend, and because God has the most effective and wealthy Construction Company that ever existed, your entire home improvement project is PAID IN FULL. The only thing we ask of you is that you tell all your buddies about God's Contractors, and they too can be imbued by our services.
