Commentary

by G. Neil Armstrong

Reading this chapter, I began to think about a broader spectrum. I began to see where all this message actually does apply to some of my actual experiences. I began to relate immediately. You see, there were times in my life when people did treat me very roughly because I stood fast in the Word by my actions and overall lifestyle. I did confess and profess that Jesus is Lord and I am His. Even the affliction did exalt the Lord. It also strengthened the confidence in myself and in those who secretly hoped that the strength of the Lord was enough to sustain me. These silent observers are everywhere. There is always someone somewhere watching you, hoping to see you overcome something big, that will bring light of hope to their own situation. You are that person's hero; or role model. You play a very important role in that person's life. That person will determine where there is hope in a seemingly hopeless situation. He will be encouraged anew when he sees that you got through it and are still walking solidly onward.

Please remember that the tough times make the good days so much sweeter. Also remember that when someone sees that you made it through, they are filled with hope that they too can make it through, and that they really have nothing to fear.

Thank You Jesus for all You are to me. Thank you for being a living example that we can do all things in Your name. Thank You for paying for my sin. Thank You for all that you are and all that I am because of You. I pray in Jesus' name, amen.
