Commentary

by G. Neil Armstrong

Mat 6:32    (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.

Mat 6:33    But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Psalm 28:1-9
1.
Unto thee will I cry, O LORD my rock; be not silent to me: lest, if thou be silent to me, I become like them that go down into the pit.
2.
Hear the voice of my supplications, when I cry unto thee, when I lift up my hands toward thy holy oracle.
3.
Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, which speak peace to their neighbours, but mischief is in their hearts.
4.
Give them according to their deeds, and according to the wickedness of their endeavours: give them after the work of their hands; render to them their desert.
5.
Because they regard not the works of the LORD, nor the operation of his hands, he shall destroy them, and not build them up.
6.
Blessed be the LORD, because he hath heard the voice of my supplications.
7.
The LORD is my strength and my shield; my heart trusted in him, and I am helped: therefore my heart greatly rejoiceth; and with my song will I praise him.
8.
The LORD is their strength, and he is the saving strength of his anointed.
9.
Save thy people, and bless thine inheritance: feed them also, and lift them up for ever.

Proverb 3:5-6
Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Every facet of my life ties together closely as the Lord lifts me to a higher standard. In the middle of it all, and at many times throughout, echoing deep within me I might ask how this or that has to do with God's plan for me. Forgetting NONE of my shortcomings, nor forgetting His mercy, the answers are always within the questions. David knew this in Psalm 28. Amos knew this in chapter 2. Matthew knew this in chapter 6. Everyone in life, past and future can find the hand of God working in our present life.

Let not the wicked people put on a disguise of holiness, to bring down your heart of hearts. God is with you. Matthew 6:33 is a very simple solution, put in a way that is easy to understand and apply to the here and now time. Don't let complicated situations confuse what the Lord is willing for you. Jesus came so that we can have life, and more abundant (John 10:10). If you are experiencing results that are lose, death, and/or destruction, the enemy has a hand in it. If you are experiencing results that are full of life, and that in abundance, God has HIS hand in it.

When I am laying flat on my back, exhausted by the seemingly vain efforts of a day, I need only reach out to the Lord and He will put me upright. David didn't want the wicked people to mock his efforts, nor did he want anyone to proclaim that God is not with him. God will NEVER share His glory with ANYONE! He won't let anyone steal His glory.

Keep it simple. Focus on the very kingdom of God, then align your every step with righteousness. Don't analyize it to complicated insanity. Don't lean upon your own understanding. Simply acknowledge Him, and He will direct your path!
