1 Samuel 21
David is searching now. He don't seem to have any direction or purpose in mind. He cannot slay Saul because of the covenant between he and Jonathan, that they and their seed that the Lord be between them (1 Sam. 20:16,17,42). David did, however, acquire the very sword that Goliath owned, that he took from Goliath after he slain Goliath with the sling and the stone. I suppose that having the sword will protect David from the hosts that accompany Saul, but not from Saul himself.
David is still behaving very wisely, even in this time of dire distress. He seen people who could get word back to Saul of his whereabouts and he changed his behavior. He began to behave as though he had lost his mind. Maybe this will deter Saul from his pursuit. If nothing else, maybe it will relax Saul so that he won't feel the need to make haste. I don't know the motives that drive David to the actions that he chooses to take. All will work out for the good because he loves the Lord and is called according to His purpose.
