Way Of Holiness
By G. Neil Armstrong
Why does it seem like I feel better when I lie? Could it be that I want people to be impressed with me, so I tell them things that might increase their opinion of me? If this is true, then doesn’t that suggest that I am at that moment afraid of what those people may think of me if I didn’t lie? Is that to say that who I already am isn’t impressive enough?
And what about who I am? Didn’t I work hard, suffer long, and struggle deep within myself to make it through to where I am today? If I don’t like who I am, or if I don’t think other people will like who I am, then what does that say about my effort? Do I really need to lie about what is real, just to cast an illusion of what I think is better? I think not.
I am not greater than I really am. I am not less then I really am. What does measure mans worth is not determined by other people’s opinions. After all, many of those opinions are also lies. What people think of me is not always what people know of me.
What does measure the worth of a man is his integrity. A person needs to have and to hold a way about him that does not shift or alter to the shifting and altering circumstances. There is only one way that can neither be shifted nor altered and has stood the test of time, for all time. That is the way of Holiness.
For a man to learn God’s will, that man must study God in great detail. God is Holy. To be Holy, a person must seek God… diligently. When a person finds something that seems Godly, that person tries it. If that something brings holy results, Godly results, or results in something that will help someone, that person has and must hold that which he has found. It is a Godly attribute… one step in the way of Holiness.
Today we have help. We have the knowledge of Christ… our perceivable example and redeemer of our sinful way. The Bible is an integral resource of knowledge of God and historical events and teachings from Christ. It is so much easier to adhere to the way of Holiness with our wealth of resources, and our countless avenues to receive the study of God. Even then we must translate what we have learned into practical application so that God can engraft His way into our lives.
We must learn by study, by experience, and by trial. We grow when we exercise. We must exercise what we study. Experience what we exercise, and we grow strong. Our integrity solidifies into that which cannot be shifted or altered. Man has become like Christ. This man has a soft part, or weakness always… deep within. It is known as free will.
For as long as this hardened, unshifting and unaltering man chooses to render his free will to be engrafted into God’s will, this man will remain like Christ. In Christ, we hold the kingdom keys. These keys unlock supernatural help. These keys come full circle again to maintain that man’s integrity. No more need to lie.
