 Repentance

By G. Neil Armstrong

In my distress I have desired and partook of filthy lucre. As the Israelites had wept for those things that they have for all their lives indulged in, so have I wept in my heart for my old ways; the way of the heathen.

I did experience emotional challenges yesterday and I did not fare well in my behavior. I overreacted to a situation that should not have become my problem at all, and would not have been my problem if only I have thought through and understood the value of the confrontation (see Confrontation Theory and Errors In Thinking below). Instead, I have sinned for my anger. I have sown destruction. Then I wept for the accursed things.

I partook of behaviors not unlike the heathen ways. I did indulge in the accursed thing. God is not pleased. As I understand Him, there is only true redemption if there is true repentance.

In 1 John 1:9 we see that God does offer a solution to sin that has been committed, therefore allowing us hope for our sinfulness.

Num 11:1-6

1          And when the people complained, it displeased the LORD: and the LORD heard it; and his anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and consumed them that were in the uttermost parts of the camp.

2          And the people cried unto Moses; and when Moses prayed unto the LORD, the fire was quenched.

3          And he called the name of the place Taberah: because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.

4          And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?

5          We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:

6          But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
